Happy National Tooth Fairy Day!

If you thought National Tooth Fairy Day was back in February, think again! It’s celebrated a couple times throughout the year. The second time around is on August 22nd.

National Tooth Fairy Day is a fun day to celebrate taking care of your pearly whites. In addition, this is a great way to teach your kids the importance of good oral care and why the Tooth Fairy rewards good kids!

Tooth Fairy Tradition

Legend has it that the tooth fairy came to life in 1927, when a small booklet about children’s oral care came out. After that, people’s imaginations went wild. The mythical fairy started to bring money and other gifts to children that lost their teeth.

However, the loss of a tooth is a traumatic experience for your child. However, the promise of a gift from the tooth fairy makes a child look forward to something. Some countries even use a “tooth box” to put the tooth in under their pillow.

Fun Things to Do on National Tooth Fairy Day

If you have kids, this would be a fun day to explain the importance of having healthy teeth and taking care of them.

  • First, make them healthy snacks. Swap out the candy and cookies for fresh veggie sticks with hummus and sour cream dips.
  • Second, read a book about the tooth fairy together. If your children are small, they will enjoy a story about the tooth fairy’s adventures.
  • Third, get some coloring books. Print out a few images of the tooth fairy and let them color. Meanwhile, talk to them about losing their teeth and a sure them that they’re growing up.

What Adults Can Do on National Tooth Fairy Day

For instance, it’s okay to act as a big kid. Adults believe in the tooth fairy too! Next, continue brushing 2-3 times a day, flossing, using mouth water, cutting down on sugar and avoid eating foods for sensitive teeth. Don’t forget to visit your dentist twice a year.

In conclusion, it’s time to educate your friends and family. Remind them about the importance of taking care of their teeth and how the tooth fairy is always watching!
