3 Beverages That Cause Teeth Stains

Certain beverages can jeopardize the brightness of your smile. It doesn’t mean that you should stop drinking them, but you should moderate their consumption. Be mindful when drinking any of the following:

Coffee: Coffee may be a great option to help you stay awake in the morning, however, it is not so great when it comes to your teeth. Coffee contains tannins that stain your teeth. It also creates acids in your mouth. If these acids are not cleaned away quickly they can cause damage to the tooth enamel. If you are a coffee-addict try to consume it at a specific time and after you finish make sure to brush your teeth or rinse your mouth with water.

White Wine: It may be surprising that white wine has a higher chance of staining your teeth than red wine. Both wines contain tannins but while red wine is more sweet, white wine is more acidic. This acidity can erode your enamel layer over time, making it more vulnerable to long-term staining from other foods and drinks.

Sports Drinks: These drinks are highly acidic and can erode tooth enamel, setting the stage for staining. If you are going to exercise, limit the intake of these beverages. Try drinking water, which is better for your health and teeth!
