Warning Signs of Enamel Erosion

Tooth enamel is known for being the hardest mineralized substance of the body. The function of this substance is to protect the teeth from daily chewing, biting and crunching of foods. If you don’t take proper care of your dental health, acidic foods and drinks can worn away this substance, causing changes in the appearance of your smile such as:

Discoloration – Enamel erosion can lead to yellow, stained teeth.

Sensitivity – When enamel erosion occurs, the layer of dentin beneath is exposed causing discomfort and extreme sensitivity on the inner and outer surfaces of the teeth.

Transparency – Enamel erosion can cause the teeth to look translucent or transparent due to the lack of minerals.
